| Paul Dennis
|
Paul grew up in Kelso, Washington, where he attended Kelso High School. His first real choral experience was as a singer with a young, relatively new teacher by the name of Howard Meharg. That was the beginning of what has become a nearly 48 year choral collaboration. Paul taught choral music in the Longview School District for seven years before spending 25 years as the choral director at Walla Walla High School. He was a charter member of Male Ensemble Northwest and sang baritone in the group for 18 years. Since retiring from teaching in 2000, Paul and his wife, Karyl, have worked for Whitman College. One of the joys of working for Whitman College is that it has given Paul the time to sing with the Whitman College Chamber Singers under the direction of Robert Bode for the last seven years. Both Paul and Karyl are active singers with the Walla Walla Choral Society and Paul has done occasional conducting stints as a sabbatical replacement. WWCS also gives Paul the pleasure of singing with his daughter Lindsey, who lives and works in Walla Walla. As much as it’s a joy to be singing with Howard again, Paul is also excited to be singing along side his son, Rob. |
