You can help in making the Chor Anno concept work
Here's how...
Yes, in this regard we are like most other arts groups.
Ticket sales and honorariums for performing our concerts cover only a portion of our expenses.
New music (standard short pieces) costs over $2.00 a copy or averages about $50 per title. We can sometimes borrow a few pieces fr
om the libraries of members, but our music costs can be several hundred dollars per season.
Advertising, programs, mailing, recording our concerts, performance hall rental, honoraria for instrumentalists, and miscellaneous operating costs make quick work of concert proceeds.
Our singers travel from as far away as Boise, Walla Walla, Kennewick, and Tacoma...this three times per season. So far none has received compensation. Choral people are odd this way. Yes, they know their lives are enriched by the experience and they know they're enriching the lives of those who hear Chor Anno concerts, but...as far as we know...none are independently wealthy enough to sustain these kind of expenses.
Ultimately, the dream is that Chor Anno has the means to at least cover all travel costs for singers.
We're new and have to establish a "track record" to be considered for grants. They're often hard to come by. Even now we hope you can help us with donations of any size. Yes, your donation is now tax-deductible. Please consider making Chor Anno a recipient of your charitable giving this year.
Consider buying a few copies of music for Chor Anno, say, at $10, or a complete set at $50. Or a tank of gas for a singer, or contribute $150 to pay for one of our instrumentalists playing in our September concerts. Any amount will be helpful! We are grateful for your help.
